VISION SUNDAY

WHAT KIND OF CHURCH DO YOU DREAM OF?

When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:13-18 NIV

JESUS DREAMS OF A GLORIOUS CHURCH THAT HE LOVES.

“…Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.” Ephesians 5:25B-27 NKJV

“Behold, I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears My voice and opens the door,
I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”
Revelation 3:20 (NKJV)

How Do I Know Gods Talking To ME?

3 Reasons Why It’s Important To Hear From God.

1.     It Validates That I’m In God’s Family.

“I am the Good Shepherd. I know my own sheep and my own sheep know me. In the same way, the Father knows me and I know the Father. I put the sheep before myself, sacrificing myself if necessary. You need to know that I have other sheep in addition to those in this pen. I need to gather and bring them, too. They’ll also recognize my voice. Then it will be one flock, one Shepherd.” John 1-:14-16 (MSG)

2.     It Protects Me From Mistakes.

“He opens their ears in times like that and gives them wisdom and instruction, causing them to change their minds, and keeping them from pride, and warning them of the penalties of sin, and keeping them from falling into some trap.” Job 33:16-18 (TLB)

3.     It’s The Secret Of A Productive Life.

“Yes, I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in me and I in him shall produce a large crop of fruit. For apart from me you can’t do a thing.” John 15:5 (TLB)

“For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it.” Job 33:14 (NLT)

5 Ways God Speaks To Us.

1.     God Speaks To Us Through The Bible.

“Everything in the Scriptures is God’s Word. All of it is useful for teaching and helping people and for correcting them and showing them how to live.” 2 Timothy 3:16 (CEV)

2.     God Speaks To Us Through Gifted Teachers.

“Christ chose some of us to be apostles, prophets, missionaries, pastors, and teachers, so that his people would learn to serve and his body would grow strong.” Ephesians 4:11-12 (CEV)

“God in His kindness gave each of us different gifts. If your gift is speaking what God has revealed, make sure what you say agrees with the Christian faith.” Romans 12:6 (GW)

“So then, we do not speak in words taught by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, as we explain spiritual truths to those who have the Spirit.” 1 Corinthians 2:13 (GNT)

3.     God Speaks To Us Through Friends And Family.

“The godly give good advice to their friends; the wicked lead them astray.” Proverbs 12:26 (NLT)

4.     God Speaks To Us Through The Holy Spirit.

“I have said all this while I am still with you. But the one who is coming to stand by you, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name, will be your teacher and will bring to your minds all that I have said to you.” John 14:26 (PHILLIPS)

5.     God Speaks To Us Through Pain.

“Sometimes it takes a painful experience to make us change our ways.” Proverbs 20:30 (GNT)

PASTOR EDDIE WINDSOR

“Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Galatians 6:2 (NKJV)

“Be careful what you think, because your thoughts run your life.” Proverbs 4:23 (NCV)

Every word that comes out of our mouth comes from a thought - whether consciously or unconsciously.

At every point Right Living begins with Right Thinking.
Each of us has a unique perception of the world we live in. This is because we have created it - by our past thoughts.

“For as he thinks within himself, so is he.” Proverbs 23:7 (TPT)

  • When we think right thoughts, we do right things, and we have right feelings. But when we think wrong thoughts, we do wrong things and have wrong or unpleasant feelings.

  • That amounts to 116 minutes a day of some sort of unwanted, unwelcome, unhelpful thoughts stealing our joy and neutralizing our effectiveness.

  • When a train of thoughts shows up, don’t just get on! Slow down before you board it to make sure it’s heading in the right direction.

  • Bad things happen when you put a negative where there is supposed to be a positive.

“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 (NLT)

Our life goes in the direction of our most dominant thoughts.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

“Set your thinking on the things that are above, not the things that belong on the earth.” Colossians 3:2 (NTE)

Remember the word of God is our true north. Our minds are like a compass and our thoughts are like a magnet.

“We tear down every proud idea that raises itself against the knowledge of God. We also capture every thought and make it give up and obey.” 2 Corinthians 10:5 (ERV)

  • Never look where you don’t want to go.

  • Don’t think about where you don’t want to go.

  • You can’t stop thinking about something by trying to stop thinking about it.

  • Negative thoughts can’t lead to a positive life.

  • You can change the way you feel, by changing the way you think.

You can change your life by changing your thinking.

“This is what the Lord says, “Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”” 2 Chronicles 20:15 (NLT)

“Tomorrow, march out against them.” 2 Chronicles 20:16 (NLT)

“But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you.” 2 Chronicles 20:17 (NLT)

“When they began to sing, the Lord threw the invading armies into a panic.” 2 Chronicles 20:22 (GNT)

”The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.”
Proverbs 18:10 NKJV

Pastor Casey Treat

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible. By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.” Hebrews 11:1-4 NKJV

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.”” Mark 11:22 NKJV

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. For whom He fore- knew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:28-29 NKJV

““For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord, “thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” says the Lord, “and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you,” says the Lord, “and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.”” Jeremiah 29:11-14 NKJV

SURRENDERING TO THE NEXT LEVEL!

Laying your life down in tender surrender before the Lord will bring life, prosperity, and honor as your reward.” Proverbs 22:4 (TPT)

[Jesus said,] “All who seek to live apart from Me will lose it all. But those who let go of their lives for My sake and surrender it all to Me will discover true life!” Matthew 10:39 (TPT)

How To Surrender To The Next Level!

1. Surrender To Making Room For The Next!

[Jesus said,] “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” John 16:7 (NKJV)

“My son, throw yourself into this work for Christ. Pass on what you heard from me to reliable leaders who are competent to teach others.” 2 Timothy 2:1-2 (MSG)

"Enlarge your house. You are going to need a bigger place; don’t underestimate the amount of room that you’ll need. So build, build, build.” Isaiah 54:2 (VOICE)

2. Surrender To The Process Of Preparation!

[Jesus said,] “I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”  John 14:2-3 (NKJV)

[Jesus said,] “There is urgency in all this. If you’re apathetic and complacent, then you’ll miss the moment of opportunity.” Luke 12:35

3. Surrender To The Pursuit For Growth, Not Control!

[Jesus said,] “I surrender My own life, and no one has the power to take My life from Me. I have the authority to lay it down and the power to take it back again. This is the destiny My Father has set before Me.” John 10:18 (TPT)

“I know our lives are in Your hands. It is not in us to direct our own steps — we need You.” Jeremiah 10:23

Wherever you seek control, God can’t be in control!

You will either have control or growth, but you can’t have both!

“You shut God out…Plotting the future as if you knew everything. 16 You have everything backward!” Isaiah 29:15-16 (MSG)

4. Surrender To The Revelation That What We’re Part Of Is Bigger Than The Part We Play!

“Then He [Jesus] walked a short distance away, and overcome with grief, He threw Himself face down on the ground and prayed, “My Father, if there is any way You can deliver Me from this suffering, please take it from Me. Yet what I want is not important, for I only desire to fulfill Your plan for Me.” Matthew 26:39 (TPT)

“The source of revelation-knowledge is found as you fall down in surrender before the Lord.” Proverbs 15:33 (TPT)

5. Surrender To Letting A New Era Supersede An Old Season!

“Jesus cried out with a loud voice, “Father, I surrender My Spirit into Your hands.” And He took His last breath and died.” Luke 23:46 (TPT)

“The best thing to do [with your old life] is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. 14 God's Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go! Romans 8:13-14 (MSG)

“Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19 (NKJV)

AUDACIOUS FAITH

Philippians 1:6 NKJV

ACTIVATING YOUR FAITH

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 NKJV

WITHOUT THE HOPE OF VISION FAITH HAS NOTHING TO WORK WITH.

1)    GOD USES VISION TO ACTIVATE OUR FAITH.

“Where there is no vision, the people perish...”  Proverbs 29:18a KJV

 ·  THERE IS SOMETHING POWERFUL ABOUT A DREAM.

“Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.” And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. Then he dreamed still another dream and told it to his brothers, and said, “Look, I have dreamed another dream. And this time, the sun, the moon, and the eleven stars bowed down to me.” So he told it to his father and his brothers; and his father rebuked him and said to him, “What is this dream that you have dreamed? Shall your mother and I and your brothers indeed come to bow down to the earth before you?” And his brothers envied him, but his father kept the matter in mind.” Genesis 37:5-11 NKJV

“May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose.” Psalms 20:4 NKJV

2)    SOMETIMES OUR VISION NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED TO ACTIVATE OUR FAITH.

“I will stand my watch and set myself on the rampart, and watch to see what He will say to me, and what I will answer when I am corrected. Then the LORD answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”
Habakkuk 2:1-3 NKJV

“But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.” I Corinthians 2:9-10 NKJV

HOW TO GET GOD’S VISION

·      Get into a place and posture
·      Watch to see
·      Listen to hear
·      Align when corrected
·      Write it down
·      Run and wait

3)    SOME PEOPLE NEED THEIR VISION RESTORED TO ACTIVATE THEIR FAITH.

· IS IT TIME FOR YOU TO DREAM AGAIN?

“Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.” Mark 8:22-25 NKJV

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness.” Genesis 1:1-4 NKJV

AUDACIOUS FAITH IS THE WILLINGNESS TO TAKE A RISK

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV

SIX FACETS OF AUDACIOUS FAITH

1)    AUDACIOUS FAITH IS BELIEVING WHEN I DON’T SEE IT.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 NKJV

“A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” Matthew 12:35 NKJV

“While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:18 NKJV

Case study of Caleb. Joshua 14:7-11.
·      What they saw and said. See Numbers 13:32-33.
·      What Caleb saw then. See Numbers 13:30 and Numbers 14:8.
·      What Caleb said and saw 45 years later. See Joshua 14:12.

2)    AUDACIOUS FAITH IS OBEYING WHEN I DON’T UNDERSTAND IT.

“It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before...”. Hebrews 11:7a NLT

If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. Ecclesiastes 11:4 TLB

3)    AUDACIOUS FAITH IS GIVING WHEN I DON’T HAVE IT.

“It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.” Hebrews 11:4 NLT

4)    AUDACIOUS FAITH IS PERSISTING WHEN I DON’T FEEL LIKE IT.

“It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible.” Hebrews 11:27 NLT

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day.” 2 Corinthians 4:16 NKJV

5)    AUDACIOUS FAITH IS THANKING GOD BEFORE I RECEIVE IT.

“By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they were encircled for seven days.” Hebrews 11:30 NKJV

6)    AUDACIOUS FAITH IS TRUSTING GOD WHEN I DON’T GET IT.

“All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised. For God had something better in mind for us…” Hebrews 11:39-40a NLT

AUDACIOUS FAITH

WEEKLY MEMORY VERSE
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the Lord,
“Thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 NKJV

 AUDACIOUS:
SHOWING A WILLINGNESS TO TAKE A RISK
A WILLINGNESS TO DO SOMETHING BOLD OR COURAGEOUS

“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.” Zechariah 4:10a NLT

WE GET TO DETERMINE THE USE OF OUR FAITH

”According to your faith let it be to you.” Matthew 9:29b NKJV

“Jesus responded, “Why are you afraid? You have so little faith!”” Matthew 8:26 NLT

“Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith!” Matthew 15:28a ESV

“But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”” Mark 9:22-24 NKJV

FIVE ELEMENTS OF AUDACIOUS FAITH

1)    AUDACIOUS FAITH COMES FROM YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD.

“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.”” Mark 11:22 NKJV

 2)    AUDACIOUS FAITH NEEDS THE SUBSTANCE OF HOPE.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 NKJV

“Where there is no vision, the people perish.” Proverbs 29:18 KJV

3)    AUDACIOUS FAITH COMES FROM HEARING GOD’S WORD.

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Romans 10:17 ESV

4)    AUDACIOUS FAITH HAS A LANGUAGE.

“Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:23-24 ESV

“Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”” Numbers 13:30 NKJV

“But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.” Numbers 14:24 NKJV

“Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak.” 2 Corinthians 4:13 ESV

“But the centurion replied, "Lord, I don’t deserve to have you come under my roof. Just say the word and my servant will be healed. I’m a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and the servant does it." When Jesus heard this, he was impressed and said to the people following him, "I say to you with all seriousness that even in Israel I haven’t found faith like this.”” Matthew 8:8-10 CEB

 5)    AUDACIOUS FAITH COMES FROM TAKING ACTION.

“But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?... Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect?” James 2:20, 22 NKJV

Radical Love - Dec 29 & 30

RADICAL

LOVE YOUR ENEMIES

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies...,”. Matthew 5:43-44a NIV

WE CAN HAVE ENEMIES WITHOUT EVEN TRYING

“Then the Jews took up stones again to stone Him. Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from My Father. For which of those works do you stone Me?” The Jews answered Him saying, “For a good work we do not stone You, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a Man, make Yourself God.”” John 10:31-33 NKJV

“He who says he is in the light, and hates his brother, is in darkness until now. He who loves his brother abides in the light, and there is no cause for stumbling in him.” I John 2:9-10 NKJV

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”  Matthew 5:43-48 NIV

HOW CAN I LOVE MY ENEMIES?

“But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”” Matthew 19:26 NKJV

FOUR KINDS OF LOVE TO UNDERSTAND

·      EROS – PASSIONATE ROMANTIC LOVE

·      PHILIA – AFFECTIONATE PLATONIC LOVE

·      STORGE – PARENTS LOVE

·      AGAPE  - UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

3 RADICAL THINGS YOU CAN DO TO RELEASE GOD’S AGAPE LOVE

 1)    PRAYING FOR MY ENEMIES

KEEPS MY HEART OPEN TO GOD’S LOVE

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you...”  Matthew 5:43 NIV

2)    TURNING THE OTHER CHEEK

         KEEPS ME FREE FROM BITTERNESS

“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.”  Matthew 5:38-42 NIV

“Again they tried to seize him, but he escaped their grasp.”  John 10:39 NIV

 3)    BLESSING MY ENEMIES

KEEPS ME FROM BEING OVERCOME BY EVIL

“Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”  Romans 12:17-21 NKJV
