Relationship Goals - May 4 & 5

WEEKLY MEMORY VERSE

“He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall, but those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31 (NKJV)

RELATIONSHIP GOALS

“Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” Amos 3:3 NKJV

AVOID THE ROMANTIC MYTH I WANT TO BE LIKE THEM.

 FOUR IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP GOALS:

  • CHRIST CENTER

  • PURPOSE DRIVEN

  • PROBLEM SOLVING

  • COVENANT KEEPING

I) WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE CHRIST CENTERED?

  • IF YOU WANT TO GET ONE THING RIGHT IN LIFE MAKE JESUS THE ONE.

““Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” Matthew 22:36-38 NIV

  • IN A CHRIST CENTERED MARRIAGE, JESUS IS YOUR NUMBER ONE AND YOUR SPOUSE IS YOUR NUMBER TWO.

  • EVERYONE HAS SOMETHING AT THE CENTER OF THEIR LIFE.

  • WHATEVER IS AT THE CENTER

  • INFLUENCES MY BELIEFS AND VALUES

  • INFLUENCES MY DECISIONS, ACTIONS AND ATTITUDE

  • INFLUENCES MY INFLUENCE AND IMPACT

“Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. And cultivate thankfulness.” Colossians 3:15 MSG

II) HOW CAN I MAKE CHRIST THE CENTER?

1) PRAY WITH YOUR SPOUSE/FRIENDS.

““Also, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about something and pray for it, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. This is true because if two or three people come together in my name, I am there with them.”” Matthew 18:19-20 NCV

  • KEEP IT SHORT.

  • KEEP IT CONSISTENT.

  • KEEP IT REAL/HUMBLE.

2) GET INTO COMMUNITY.

“Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God.” Psalms 92:13 NKJV

“The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.” Psalms 12:26 NKJV
