Relationship Goals - May 25 & 26

WEEKLY MEMORY VERSE

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

RELATIONSHIP GOALS

NOT ALL RELATIONSHIPS ARE GOOD FOR YOU.

“The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray.” Proverbs 12:26 NKJV

THE FOUR MOST IMPORTANT RELATIONSHIP GOALS:

  • CHRIST CENTERED

  • PURPOSE DRIVEN

  • PROBLEM SOLVING

  • COVENANT KEEPING

TODAY LET’S LOOK AT PROBLEM SOLVING.

“For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” 1 John 5:4 NIV

WHEN YOU’RE STRUGGLING MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHO THE REAL ENEMY IS.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” Ephesians 6:12-13 NIV

ASK YOURSELF, “IS THIS A SPIRITUAL BATTLE?”

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 NIV

TWO WAYS THE DEVIL OFTEN ATTACKS

1)  DISTRACTION

“Catch all the foxes, those little foxes, before they ruin the vineyard of love, for the grapevines are blossoming!” Song of Songs 2:15 NLT

2) SEDUCTION

“For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” 1 John 2:16 NIV

“A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, but to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.” Proverbs 27:7 NKJV

TWO EXTREMES:

THIS IS DUMB
I AM IN REAL TROUBLE

“If you think you are strong, you should be careful not to fall. The only temptation that has come to you is that which everyone has. But you can trust God, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you can stand. But when you are tempted, he will also give you a way to escape so that you will be able to stand it.”
1 Corinthians 10:12-13 NCV

THREE TAKE AWAYS

1) DON’T FIGHT THE DEVIL IN HIS TURF.
“Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evildoers. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.” Proverbs 4:14-15 NIV

2) PUT ON YOUR ARMOR.
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:11 NKJV

“Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, long suffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.” Colossians 3:12-15 NKJV

3) HOLD HANDS AND PRAY USING GOD’S WORD, “NOT TODAY DEVIL.”
“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” 1 John 4:4b NKJV

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him.” Romans 8:37b NKJV

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 NKJV

“They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11 NIV

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Isaiah 54:17a NKJV
