WEEKLY MEMORY VERSE
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
I will guide you with My eye.”
Psalm 32:8 (NKJV)
THE MYSTERY OF EASTER
“Now on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they, and certain other women with them, came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. But they found the stone rolled away from the tomb. Then they went in and did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. And it happened, as they were greatly perplexed about this, that behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”” Luke 24:1-7 NKJV
CHRISTIANITY MAY NOT BE PLAUSIBLE BUT IT’S UNDENIABLE.
There is no plausible explanation for the church.
There is no plausible explanation for the fame of Jesus.
CHRISTIANITY ISN’T PLAUSIBLE BECAUSE JESUS’S MESSAGE IS A PROBLEM.
1) He never advocated a political revolution.
““Well then,” he said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.”” Luke 20:25 NLT
“Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world….”” John 18:36a NKJV
“So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no fault in this Man.””
Luke 23:4 NKJV
2) He never advocated liberation from the status quo.
““Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.”” Matthew 5:17 NKJV
3) He made his message all about himself.
“Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”” John 14:6 NKJV
“Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”” John 11:25-26 NKJV
4) When Jesus died no one believed his message.
“Then he began to curse and swear, saying, “I do not know the Man!””
Matthew 26:74a NKJV
“But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.” Luke 24:11 NIV
“Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.” Luke 24:12 NIV
WHEN DID THE DISCIPLES BELIEVE?
Not His message
Not His miracles
Not at the cross
Not at the empty tomb
THEY BELIEVED WHEN THEY SAW HIM ALIVE.
“The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.” So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”” John 20:25-25 NKJV
“And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.” And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”” John 20:26-29 NKJV
The disciples four-point message
You killed Him
God raised Him
We saw Him
You should say your sorrow and repent
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” Revelation 3:20 NKJV
