WEEKLY MEMORY VERSE
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” John 10:27-30 (NKJV)
THE BATTLE OF THE SECOND GENERATION IS YOUR CHILDREN’S BATTLE.
1) FOR THEIR OWN PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD
“Then the LORD appeared to him and said: “Do not go down to Egypt; live in the land of which I shall tell you. Dwell in this land, and I will be with you and bless you; for to you and your descendants I give all these lands, and I will perform the oath which I swore to Abraham your father. And I will make your descendants multiply as the stars of heaven; I will give to your descendants all these lands; and in your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed; because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statutes, and My laws.”” Genesis 26:2-5 NKJV
2) THEIR BATTLE AGAINST FAMILIARITY
Parable of the prodigal. Luke 15:11-32
“But when he came to himself, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants.”’” Luke 15:17-19 NKJV
3) THEIR BATTLE AGAINST INFERIORITY
“And Isaac dug again the wells of water which they had dug in the days of Abraham his father, for the Philistines had stopped them up after the death of Abraham. He called them by the names which his father had called them. Also Isaac’s servants dug in the valley, and found a well of running water there. But the herdsmen of Gerar quarreled with Isaac’s herdsmen, saying, “The water is ours.” So he called the name of the well Esek, because they quarreled with him. Then they dug another well, and they quarreled over that one also. So he called its name Sitnah. And he moved from there and dug another well, and they did not quarrel over it. So he called its name Rehoboth, because he said, “For now the LORD has made room for us, and we shall be fruitful in the land.”” Genesis 26:18-22 NKJV
4) THEIR BATTLE FOR COMPASSION
Understanding God’s forgiveness. Luke 7:36-50
THE BATTLE OF THE SECOND GENERATION IS A PARENT’S BATTLE TO BUILD A BRIDGE WITH YOUR CHILD.
-Bridges help us cross over barriers
-Without bridges it’s a long way around
-Without bridges we need someone on the other side
