GRACE - Sept 22 & 23

EXPERIENCING GRACE

SIMPLE GRACE = THE GRACE THAT SAVES US
CONSTANT GRACE = THE GRACE THAT SUSTAINS US

WHAT IS GRACE? IT’S THE UNEARNED AND UNDESERVED FAVOR OF GOD.

WE SEE GOD’S CONSTANT GRACE IN CREATION

“…for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.” Matthew 5:45b NKJV

“For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.” Romans 1:20 NLT

BECAUSE CONSTANT GRACE SUSTAINS ME

1)     I NEED TO FEED ON GOD’S FAITHFULNESS.

“Taste and see that the Lord is good!” Psalms 34:8a NLT

“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.” 1 Peter 2:2-3 NIV

2)     I NEED TO LOOK FOR GOD’S GOODNESS.

“But when sin grew worse, God’s grace increased.”  Romans 5:20b NCV

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living.” Psalms 27:13 NKJV

“So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-17 MSG

“But there’s one other thing I remember, and remembering, I keep a grip on hope: God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out, his merciful love couldn’t have dried up. They’re created new every morning. How great your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:19-24 MSG

3)    I NEED TO MAKE THE MOST OF MY SALVATION.

“…..continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” Philippians 2:12b-13 NIV

“Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” 2 Corinthians 12:8-10 NIV

GOD’S SUSTAINING GRACE TO RUTH

·       RUTH CHOOSE TO FEED ON GOD’S FAITHFULNESS.

But Ruth replied, “Don’t ask me to leave you and turn back. Wherever you go, I will go; wherever you live, I will live. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.”  Ruth 1:16 NLT

·       RUTH CHOOSE TO LOOK FOR GOD’S GOODNESS.

“While she was there, Boaz arrived from Bethlehem and greeted the harvesters. “The Lord be with you!” he said. “The Lord bless you!” the harvesters replied. Then Boaz asked his foreman, “Who is that young woman over there? Who does she belong to?” And the foreman replied, “She is the young woman from Moab who came back with Naomi. She asked me this morning if she could gather grain behind the harvesters. She has been hard at work ever since, except for a few minutes’ rest in the shelter.” Boaz went over and said to Ruth, “Listen, my daughter. Stay right here with us when you gather grain; don’t go to any other fields. Stay right behind the young women working in my field. See which part of the field they are harvesting, and then follow them. I have warned the young men not to treat you roughly. And when you are thirsty, help yourself to the water they have drawn from the well.” Ruth fell at his feet and thanked him warmly. “What have I done to deserve such kindness?” she asked. “I am only a foreigner.””  Ruth 2:4-10 NLT

·       RUTH ALLOWED GOD TO WORK HIS GRACE THROUGH HER LIFE.

“So Boaz took Ruth into his home, and she became his wife. When he slept with her, the Lord enabled her to become pregnant, and she gave birth to a son. Then the women of the town said to Naomi, “Praise the Lord, who has now provided a redeemer for your family! May this child be famous in Israel.” Ruth 4:13-14 NLT
