Whose Ladder Are You Holding - Aug 18 & 19

WHOSE LADDER ARE YOU HOLDING?

NO LEADER CAN FULFILL HIS CALLING WITHOUT A TEAM

THE BIBLE TEACHES THAT WE ARE DEPENDENT UPON EACH OTHER FOR SUCCESS

"For in fact the body is not one member but many… But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty...”” 1 Corinthians 12:14, 20-23 NKJV

GOD TELLS MOSES THE VICTORY OF MY PEOPLE DEPENDS ON YOU LIFTING UP YOUR ROD

THE SYMBOLISM OF MOSES ROD. Exodus 17:9-13

  • SYMBOLIC OF WHAT IS IN OUR HAND
  • SYMBOLIC OF GOD” S PURPOSES
  • SYMBOLIC THAT NO LEADER CAN KEEP THE ROD LIFTED CONTINUOUSLY WITHOUT A TEAM

“And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the LORD. Then they said to Moses, “Because there were no graves in Egypt, have you taken us away to die in the wilderness? Why have you so dealt with us, to bring us up out of Egypt? Is this not the word that we told you in Egypt, saying, ‘Let us alone that we may serve the Egyptians’? For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.” And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. But lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea.”’” Exodus 14:10-16 NKJV

MOSES BEGINS TO IMPLODE UNDER THE WEIGHT OF HIS CALLING

“And Moses said to the Lord, “Why are you treating me, your servant, so harshly? Have mercy on me! What did I do to deserve the burden of all these people? Did I give birth to them? Did I bring them into the world? Why did you tell me to carry them in my arms like a mother carries a nursing baby? How can I carry them to the land you swore to give their ancestors? Where am I supposed to get meat for all these people? They keep whining to me, saying, ‘Give us meat to eat!’ I can’t carry all these people by myself! The load is far too heavy! If this is how you intend to treat me, just go ahead and kill me. Do me a favor and spare me this misery!””  Numbers 11:11-15 NLT

GOD’S RESPONSE TO MOSES: GET A TEAM

“The Lord said to Moses, “Assemble seventy respected men who are recognized as leaders of the people, bring them to me at the Tent of my presence, and tell them to stand there beside you. I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the spirit I have given you and give it to them. Then they can help you bear the responsibility for these people, and you will not have to bear it alone.” Numbers 11:16-17 GNT
