A PLACE TO WORSHIP
HAVE YOU EVER HAD A BAD DAY?
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13 NKJV
HOW CAN WORSHIP MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN YOU ARE HAVING A BAD DAY?
THE STORY OF KING JEHOSHAPHAT
“It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and others with them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat. Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you…”” 2 Chronicles 20:1-2a NKJV
1) HE HUMBLED HIMSELF TO SEEK GOD WITH ALL HIS HEART.
“And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.” 2 Chronicles 20:3 NKJV
“For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.” 2 Chronicles 20:12b NKJV
2) HE PRAYED AND ASKED GOD FOR HELP ACCORDING TO HIS WORD.
“So Judah gathered together to ask help from the LORD…” 2 Chronicles 20:4a NKJV
“Thus says the LORD to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.’” 2 Chronicles 20:15b NKJV
3) HE PRAISED THE LORD FOR THE BEAUTY OF HIS HOLINESS.
“And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the LORD, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying: “Praise the LORD, For His mercy endures forever.”” 2 Chronicles 20:21 NKJV
“Give to the LORD the glory due His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness!” 1 Chronicles 16:29 NKJV
· OUR PRAISE PREPARES A PLACE FOR GOD’S PRESENCE.
“My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? Why are You so far from helping Me, And from the words of My groaning? O My God, I cry in the daytime, but You do not hear; And in the night season, and am not silent. But You are holy, Enthroned in the praises of Israel.” Psalm 22:1-3 NKJV
· OUR PRAISE ALLOWS GOD TO STRENGTHEN US IN OUR WEAKNESSES.
“Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger.” Psalm 8:2 NKJV
“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV
“Now when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.” 2 Chronicles 20:22 NKJV
THE RESULT: TRUE WORSHIP PRODUCED A VALLEY OF BLESSING.
“When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much. And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the LORD; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day.” 2 Chronicles 20:25-26 NKJV
