Honoring our Moms - May 12 & 13

HONORING MOMS

“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.”  Exodus 20:12 NKJV

GIVING HONOR WHERE IT IS DUE HAS TREMENDOUS POWER.

“Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor.” Romans 13:7 NIV

·      HONOR RELEASES GOD’S FAVOR INTO OUR LIVES.

““Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise— “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”” Ephesians 6:2-3 NIV

·      HONOR HELPS RELEASE PEOPLE’S POTENTIAL.

“Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own town, among his relatives and in his own home.” He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them.”  Mark 6:4-5 NIV

6 WAYS TO HONOR YOUR MOTHER (AND FATHER)

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.” Romans 12:10 ESV

1)    FORGIVE THEM.

“Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do…” Luke 23:34a NKJV

“So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind.” 1 Thessalonians 5:8 MSG

“Young people take pride in their strength, but the gray hairs of wisdom are even more beautiful.” Proverbs 20:29 CEV
