5 Habits - Nov 17 & 18

FIVE HABITS FOR LIFE CHANGE

“Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” 1 Timothy 4:8 NLT

  •  THE HABIT OF SEEKING GOD: WORSHIP

  • THE HABIT OF BELONGING TO GOD’S FAMILY: MEMBERSHIP

  • THE HABIT OF GROWING UP SPIRITUALLY: MATURITY

  • THE HABIT OF SERVING GOD’S FAMILY: MINISTRY

  • THE HABIT OF SHARING CHRIST: MISSION

HOW DO I DEVELOP THE HABITS THAT HELP ME GROW UP SPIRITUALLY?

“For those whom He foreknew [of whom He was aware and loved beforehand], He also destined from the beginning [foreordaining them] to be molded into the image of His Son [and share inwardly His likeness], that He might become the firstborn among many brethren.” Romans 8:29 AMPC

“There is much more we would like to say about this, but it is difficult to explain, especially since you are spiritually dull and don’t seem to listen. You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.” Hebrews 5:11-14 NLT

I) SPIRITUALLY FIT PEOPLE START THEIR DAY SPENDING TIME WITH GOD.

“My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.” Psalm 5:3 NKJV

“Worship GOD if you want the best; worship opens doors to all his goodness.” Psalm 34:9 MSG

“... in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” Psalm 16:11b ESV

II) FOUR THINGS TO PRACTICE WHEN SITTING IN GOD’S PRESENCE.

1) PRACTICE BEING THANKFUL.

“Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.” Psalm 100:4 NKJV

“This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24 NKJV

2) PRACTICE CASTING ALL YOUR CARES ON HIM IN PRAYER.

“Casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7 ESV

3) PRACTICE LETTING HIM KNOW ALL YOUR HOPES AND DREAMS.

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God…” Philippians 4:6 NKJV

“Delight yourself also in the LORD, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4 NKJV

4) PRACTICE THINKING ON HIS PROMISES.

“I’ve banked your promises in the vault of my heart so I won’t sin myself bankrupt.” Psalm 119:11 MSG

III) SPIRITUALLY FIT PEOPLE SPEND TIME FEEDING ON GOD’S WORD

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness…” 2 Timothy 3:16 NIV
