HOPE FOR YOUR RELATIONSHIPS

WALKING IN LOVE.  HOW DO YOU SEE CONFLICT?

GOD WANTS TO USE YOU AS A PEACEMAKER

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5:9 NIV

“And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled.” Colossians 1:21 NKJV

THE PROBLEM WITH UNRESOLVED CONFLICT: IT GROWS

“‘Be angry, and do not sin’: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.” Ephesians 4:26-27 NKJV

“You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ is answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You fool!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.” Matthew 5:21-22 NIV

THREE WAYS TO USE CONFLICT AS AN OPPORTUNITY

1)    CONFLICT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GLORIFY GOD

WE GLORIFY GOD WHEN WE…

·      TRUST HIM

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28 NKJV

·      HONOR AND ACKNOWLEDGE HIM

“And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV

·      OBEY HIM

“If you love me, keep my commands.” John 14:15 NIV

“Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me…” John 14:21 NIV

“Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching…” John 14:23a NIV

“Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching…” John 14:24a NIV

“... the world must know that I love the Father, so I do exactly what the Father told me to do.” John 14:31 NCV

2)    CONFLICT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO SERVE OTHERS

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,” Luke 6:27 NKJV

“And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.” Luke 6:31 NKJV

“Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1 NKJV

“Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans 12:20-21 NKJV

3)    CONFLICT IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO GROW IN CHRIST LIKENESS

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4 NKJV

“Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings…” 1 Peter 4:12-13a NKJV

“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.” Matthew 7:3-5 NIV
