YEAR OF HOPE

PROVIDING HOPE IN RELATIONSHIPS

WHAT DIFFERENCE WOULD A MENTOR HAVE MADE IN YOUR LIFE?

“For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift, so that you may be established—.” Romans 1:11 NKJV

HOW DO I NURTURE PEOPLE?

“But we were gentle among you, just as a nursing mother cherishes her own children. So, affectionately longing for you, we were well pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God, but also our own lives, because you had become dear to us.” I Thessalonians 2:7-8 NKJV

1. LOVE THEM

““Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ “This is the first and great commandment.” And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”” Matthew 22:36-40 NKJV

“…if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.” 1 Corinthians 13:2bNIV

“But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another;” I Thessalonians 4:9 NKJV

2. RESPECT THEM

“Show proper respect to everyone…” 1 Peter 2:17 NIV

3. PROVIDE SAFETY FOR THEM

“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Philippians 2:3-4 NIV

“Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.” Philippians 3:17 NKJV

4. RECOGNIZE THEM

“And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.”” Luke 19:5 NKJV

5. ENCOURAGE THEM

“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.” 1 Thessalonians 5:11 NIV

6. PRAY FOR THEM

“My prayer is not for the world, but for those you have given me, because they belong to you.” John 17:9 NLT

“Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.” Colossians 4:12 NIV
