BRINGING HOPE TO OTHERS

Pastor Dave Minton

“Where then is my hope? Can anyone find it?” Job 17:15 NLT

“After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.” Job 42:10 NIV

“So the LORD blessed Job in the second half of his life even more than in the beginning.” Job 42:12 NLT

“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:25 NIV

HOW CAN I BRING HOPE TO OTHERS?

  • BE INTENTIONAL

““I showed what you are like to those you gave me from the world. They belonged to you, and you gave them to me…”  John 17:6a NCV

  • LISTEN TO THEM

“My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry…” James 1:19 NIV

“Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.”   I Peter 3:7 NKJV

  • PRAY FOR THEM

“We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,”.   Colossians 1:3 NKJV

“But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” Luke 22:32 NKJV

  • USE WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

“The right word spoken at the right time is as beautiful as gold apples in a silver bowl.” Proverbs 25:11 NCV

“Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit...”  Ephesians 4:29-30a NKJV

  • TELL THEM YOUR STORY

“However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.”” Mark 5:19 NKJV

  • INVITE THEM

“Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” John 4:29 NKJV

  • DO ACTS OF KINDNESS

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me… The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’”  Matthew 25:35-36, 40 NIV

  • BELIEVE IN THEM

“For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? Indeed, you are our glory and joy.” 1 Thessalonians 2:19-20 NIV

  • EMPOWER THEM

“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last…” John 15:16a NIV
