CHRISTMAS - FINDING JOY

“But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”” Luke 2:10-11 NIV

RECEIVING THE MESSAGE OF A SAVIOR IS SO POWERFUL IT BRINGS GREAT JOY

“May God, the source of hope, fill you with all joy and peace by means of your faith in him, so that your hope will continue to grow by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 GNT

“Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy,” 1 Peter 1:8 NIV

1)    AUTHENTIC JOY COMES FROM GOD’S PRESENCE

“Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’” Matthew 1:23 NLT

“You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure forever.” Psalm 16:11 GNT

2)    AUTHENTIC JOY COMES WHEN I TRUST GOD WITH MY LIFE

“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4 NKJV

“Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross...” Hebrews 12:2a NKJV

3)    AUTHENTIC JOY COMES WHEN I REMEMBER WHAT GOD HAS DONE FOR ME

“For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.” 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 NKJV
