I FOUND: THE POWER TO CHANGE
Week 6 5-1-16

WHERE DO I FIND THE POWER TO CHANGE?

“I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead.” Philippians 3:10a (NLT)

“I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor…” Ephesians 1:19-20a (NLT)

HOW DO I PLUG INTO GOD’S POWER TO CHANGE

1) WE MUST CHOOSE TO PLUG INTO THE POWER OF A NEW LIFE

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” II Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)

“…Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.” Philippians 2:12b-13 (NKJV)

2) WE MUST CHOOSE TO PLUG INTO THE POWER OF NEW THINKING

“Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts.” Proverbs 4:23 (GNB)

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2 (NKJV)

“Seek the LORD while He may be found, Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:6-9 (NKJV)

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV)

HOW DO WE GET GOD’S THINKING?

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” Colossians 3:16a (NKJV)

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 (NKJV)

“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” Psalm 119:11 (NIV)

“Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers.” Psalm 1:1-3 (NIV)

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things”…and the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:8-9b (NKJV)

3) WE MUST CHOOSE TO PLUG INTO A NEW POWER SOURCE

“I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5 (NKJV)

“Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Matthew 26:41 (NKJV)
