I FOUND
FREEDOM
4-16-15

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1 (NIV)

“You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?” Galatians 3:1-3 (NIV)

“So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?” Galatians 3:5 (NIV)

THREE TRAPS TO AVOID

PERFECTIONISM

LEGALISM

CONFORMITY

“You were running a good race. Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth?” Galatians 5:7 (NIV)

HOW DO I MAINTAIN MY FREEDOM?

WORSHIP IS THE ANTIDOTE

“You worship what you do not know;… But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:22a-24 (NKJV)

1) WORSHIP IS ASKING  GOD FOR HIS HELP

“And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 (NKJV)

“Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV)

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free,” Luke 4:18 (NIV)

2) WORSHIP IS CONFESSING MY NEED AND HIS STRENGTH

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—” Ephesians 2:8 (NIV)

“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I John 1:8-9 (NKJV)

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” Romans 10:10-11 (NKJV)

3) WORSHIP IS PRACTICING DEVOTION NOT OBLIGATION

“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV)

“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men,” Colossians 3:23 (NKJV)

“Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before His presence with singing.” Psalms 100:2 (NKJV)

4) WORSHIP IS EXPRESSING GRATEFULNESS  “Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” II Corinthians 9:15 (NKJV)

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)
