COURAGEOUS FAITH

Week 5 Pastor Dave Minton

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV

DISCERNING GOD’S WILL FOR COURAGEOUS FAITH

1) DON’TRUSH YOUR DECISION

2) PRAY FOR THIS EVERYDAY

3) REMEMBER OUR THEME IS “EQUAL SACRIFICE NOT EQUAL GIFTS

“I will not sacrifice to the Lord my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.” 2 Samuel 24:24 NIV

4) DECIDE WHETHER YOU WILL GIVE BY REASON OR BY REVELATION

“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.”  2 Corinthians 9:10 NIV

5) HOLD A FAMILY CONFERENCE TO DISCUSS YOUR CONTRIBUTION

Proverbs 3:9-10, Proverbs 11:24-25, Luke 6:38, 1 Corinthians 8:1-12, 2 Corinthians 9:7-8, Matthew 6:19-29

6) ASK THESE QUESTIONS AT YOUR FAMILY CONFERENCE

  • For your offering what could we do?
  • For your weekly or monthly commitment for 36 months what could we do?

7) DECIDE THE TOTAL YOU’LL GIVE ( CASH AND COMMITMENT) HOLD HANDS AND DEDICATE YOURSELVES TO GROWING IN COURAGEOUS FAITH

HAVING THE COURAGE TO GIVE GOD MY BEST

Do your best to improve your faith by adding goodness, understanding, self-control, patience, devotion to God, concern for others, and love. If you keep growing in this way, it will show that what you know about our Lord Jesus Christ has made your lives useful and meaningful.” 2 Peter 1:5-8 CEV

WE CAN LEARN A LOT ABOUT FAITH AND BEING OUR BEST FROM A MILITARY ANALOGY

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” II Timothy 2:3-4 NKJV

1)    I MUST SACRIFICE MY COMFORT

“You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.” II Timothy 2:3 NKJV

“Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” Ephesians 5:2 NLT

2)    I MUST ELIMINATE DISTRACTIONS

“No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.” II Timothy 2:4 NKJV

“Where there is no vision, the people perish:” Proverbs 29:18 KJV

“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross,” Hebrews 12:1-2 NKJV

3)    I MUST DEFINE WHAT I WOULD DIE FOR

“If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it.” Matthew 10:39 NLT

“Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.” John 15:13 NKJV
