COURAGEOUS FAITH

Week 2 Pastor Dave Minton

WHAT IS COURAGEOUS FAITH?

TEN WEEK FOCUS ON GROWING, SOWING AND GOING IN FAITH

“Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:7 NLT

“Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.” 2 Corinthians 9:6 NIV

“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going.” Hebrews 11:8 NIV

WHY ARE WE DOING IT?

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 NIV

“ And anything that is not based on faith is sin.” Romans 14:23b GNT

“According to your faith let it be done to you” Matthew 9:29 NIV

COURAGEOUS FAITH: HOW FAITH IN JESUS CAN TURN A LITTLE INTO A LOT

Mark 6:34-44 The Miracle of Feeding the 5000

1)    ADMIT YOU HAVE AN UNSOLVABLE PROBLEM  (GIANT)

“When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things. By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. “This is a remote place,” they said, “and itʼs already very late. Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” But he answered, “You give them something to eat.” They said to him, “That would take more than half a yearʼs wages! “” Mark 6:34-37 NIV

2)    GIVE GOD WHAT LITTLE YOU HAVE

““How many loaves do you have?” he asked. “Go and see.” When they found out, they said, “Five—and two fish.”” Mark 6:38 NIV

“When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?” He asked this only to test him, for he already had in mind what he was going to do.” John 6:5-6 NIV

3)    PUT IT ALL INTO THE HANDS OF JESUS

“Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. He also divided the fish for everyone to share.” Mark 6:41 NLT

4)    EXPECT GOD TO MULTIPLE IT

“They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish.” Mark 6:42-43 NIV

“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”” Mark 10:27 NIV

“Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.” John 12:24 NIV
