THE COURAGE TO BELIEVE IS THE KEY TO MIRACLES

“This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” Romans 1:17 NLT

“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.” Hebrews 11:6 NIV

“He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. He was amazed at their lack of faith.”    Mark 6:5-6a  NIV

WHAT IS FAITH?

FAITH IS SEEING FROM GOD’S POINT OF VIEW

“Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.”   Hebrews 11:1 NLT

“Where there is no vision, the people perish:..”   Proverbs 29:18 KJV

“the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,” Ephesians 1:18 NKJV

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SEE WITH EYES OF FEAR, DOUBT AND UNBELIEF

1)    WE EXAGGERATE OUR PROBLEMS

“But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed. “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!” So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge. We even saw giants there...!”    Numbers 13:30-33a NLT

2)    WE UNDERESTIMATE OUR OWN ABILITIES

“There we saw the giants… and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Numbers 13:33 NKJV

3)    WE GET DISCOURAGED

“After the Israelites heard the report from the twelve men who had explored Canaan, the people cried all night”.   Numbers 14:1 CEV

 4)    WE START TO GRIPE AND COMPLAIN

“All the Israelites grumbled against Moses and Aaron, and the whole assembly said to them, “If only we had died in Egypt! Or in this wilderness!”   Numbers 14:2 NIV

5)    WE EVENTUALLY GIVE UP AND BLAME GOD

“Why is the Lord bringing us to this land only to let us fall by the sword?...Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” And they said to each other, “We should choose a leader and go back to Egypt.”” Numbers 14:3-4 NIV

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SEE WITH EYES OF FAITH?

1)     FAITH CHANGES  MY PERSPECTIVE

“Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.””    Genesis 18:14 NIV

“For with God nothing will be impossible.””   Luke 1:37 NKJV

2)    FAITH OPENS THE DOOR FOR MIRACLES

“So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” Mark 11:22-23 NKJV

“According to your faith let it be done to you”;” Matthew 9:29 NIV

3)    FAITH UNLOCKS THE PROMISES OF GOD

“For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ .” 2 Corinthians 1:20 NIV

4)    FAITH TURNS GOD-GIVEN DREAMS INTO REALITY

“With God’s power working in us, he can do much, much more than anything we can ask or think of.”     Ephesians 3:20 ERV

5)    FAITH GIVES US THE POWER TO HOLD ON IN TOUGH TIMES

“We have troubles all around us, but we are not defeated. We often don’t know what to do, but we don’t give up. We are persecuted, but God does not leave us. We are hurt sometimes, but we are not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 ERV

“That is why we never give up. Our physical body is becoming older and weaker, but our spirit inside us is made new every day. We have small troubles for a while now, but these troubles are helping us gain an eternal glory. That eternal glory is much greater than our troubles. So we think about what we cannot see, not what we see. What we see lasts only a short time, and what we cannot see will last forever.” 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 ERV
