GETTING TO KNOW GOD
WHAT IS GOD REALLY LIKE?
CAN I REALLY KNOW HIM PERSONALLY?

They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. (Romans 1:19-21 NLT)

GOD REVEALS HIMSELF TO US WHEN WE SEEK HIM

And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. (Jeremiah 29:13 NKJV)

When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.” (Psalms 27:8 NKJV)

And he did evil, because he did not prepare his heart to seek the LORD. (II Chronicles 12:14 NKJV)

THREE ALL ENCOMPASSING ATTRIBUTES OF GOD

OMNIPRESENT - ALL PRESENT
OMNIPOTENT - ALL POWERFUL
OMNISCIENT – ALL KNOWING

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account. (Hebrews 4:13 NIV)

Our Lord is great and very powerful. There is no limit to what he knows. (Psalms 147:5 NCV)

WHAT DOES GOD KNOW ABOUT ME?

1) GOD KNOWS ALL ABOUT MY FAULTS AND FAILURES

You know my foolish sins. Not one is hidden from you. (Psalms 69:5 CEV)

The LORD sees everything you do, and he watches where you go. (Proverbs 5:21 NCV)

Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy. (Proverbs 28:13 NIV)

If we claim, "We don’t have any sin," we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from everything we’ve done wrong. (1 John 1:8-9 CEB)

Even if we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings, and he knows everything. (1 John 3:20 NLT)

2) GOD KNOWS ALL ABOUT MY FRUSTRATIONS AND FEELINGS

I will be glad and rejoice in Your mercy, For You have considered my trouble; You have known my soul in adversities, (Psalms 31:7 NKJV)

As parents feel for their children, GOD feels for those who fear him. He knows us inside and out, (Psalm 103:13MSG)

Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you. (1 Peter 5:7 NLT)

 3) GOD KNOWS ALL ABOUT MY FUTURE

Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (Psalm 139:16 NIV)

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart? ” (Jeremiah 1:5a NIV)

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV)

Only I can tell you the future before it even happens. Everything I plan will come to pass, for I do whatever I wish. (Isaiah 46:10 NLT)

4) GOD KNOWS ALL ABOUT MY FEARS

“Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. (Matthew 6:8 NKJV)

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. (Matthew 6:31-32 NKJV)

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. (Philippians 4:6 NLT)

5) GOD KNOWS ALL ABOUT MY FAITHFULNESS

so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. (Matthew 6:4 NIV)
