     THE HELMET OF SALVATION
8-29-15

Take the helmet of salvation …... (Ephesians 6:17a NIV)

The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. (Psalm 118:14 NIV)

WHAT IS THE HELMET OF SALVATION?   IT’S HOPE

But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.  (1 Thessalonians 5:8NIV)

HOW DO I PUT ON THE HELMET OF SALVATION?

1) PROCLAIM THE HOPE OF YOUR SALVATION

Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. (Psalm 96:1-2 NIV

The LORD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him— my father’s God, and I will exalt him! (Exodus 15:2 NLT)

2) PROCLAIM THE CROSS IT’S THE HOPE OF ASSURANCE

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18 NIV)

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, (Romans 8:1 NIV)

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28 NIV)

3) PROCLAIM HIS PROMISES    IT’S HOPE IN HIS POWER

.... We have run to God for safety. Now his promises should greatly encourage us to take hold of the hope that is right in front of us. This hope is like a firm and steady anchor for our souls. In fact, hope reaches behind the curtain and into the most holy place. (Hebrews 6:18-19 CEV)

Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.” With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation. (Isaiah 12:2-3 NIV)

4) PROCLAIM HIS FAITHFULNESS   IT’S THE HOPE THAT KEEPS YOUR FAITH ALIVE

But I have trusted in your faithful love. My heart will rejoice in your salvation. (Psalms 13:5 CEB)

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9 NIV)

but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. (Isaiah 40:31 NIV)

5) PROCLAIM YOUR NEED    IT’S HOPE WHILE IN OUR PAIN

In my distress I called to the Lord; I cried to my God for help….(Psalm 18: 6a NIV)

My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. (Psalm 62:7-8 NIV)

Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. (Psalm 95:6-7 NIV)

I truly believe I will live to see the LORD’ s goodness. Wait for the LORD’ s help. Be strong and brave, and wait for the LORD’ s help. (Psalms 27:13-14 NCV)

No one who hopes in you will ever be put to shame (Psalm 25:3a NIV)

We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. (Psalm 33:20 NIV)

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7 NIV)
