The Stewardship of Freedom

As newborn babies want milk, you should want the pure and simple teaching. By it you can mature in your salvation, 1 Peter 2:2 (NCV)

THE STEWARDSHIP OF FREEDOM

FREEDOM IS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE BETTER

FREEDOM IS A RESPONSIBILITY TO BE MANAGED

“THOSE WHO EXPECT TO REAP THE BLESSINGS OF FREEDOM MUST UNDER GO THE FATIGUE OF SUPPORTING IT”.  Thomas Paine

AMERICA WILL NEVER BE DESTROYED FROM OUTSIDE. IF WE FALTER AND LOSE OUR FREEDOMS IT WILL BE BECAUSE WE DESTROYED OURSELVES. Abraham Lincoln

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, Luke 4:18 (NIV)

Christ has set us free for freedom. Therefore, stand firm and don’t submit to the bondage of slavery again. Galatians 5:1 (CEB)

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” John 8:32 (NKJV)

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36 (NIV)

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. 2 Corinthians 3:17 (NIV)

1) JESUS OFFERS FREEDOM FROM THE PAIN OF OUR PAST He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. Ephesians 1:7 (NLT)

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you. Ephesians 4:31-32 (NLT

2) JESUS OFFERS FREEDOM FROM OUR FEARS

I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Psalms 34:4 (NLT)

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us. I John 4:18-19 (NKJV)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. II Timothy 1:7 (NKJV)

3) JESUS OFFERS FREEDOM FROM OUR NEGATIVE DESIRES

So, since we’re out from under the old tyranny, does that mean we can live any old way we want? Since we’re free in the freedom of God, can we do anything that comes to mind? Hardly. You know well enough from your own experience that there are some acts of so-called freedom that destroy freedom. Offer yourselves to sin, for instance, and it’s your last free act. But offer yourselves to the ways of God and the freedom never quits. All your lives you’ve let sin tell you what to do. But thank God you’ve started listening to a new master, one whose commands set you free to live openly in his freedom! Romans 6:15-18 (MSG)

But now that you’ve found you don’t have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way! Work hard for sin your whole life and your pension is death. But God’s gift is real life, eternal life, delivered by Jesus, our Master. (Romans 6:22-23 MSG)

4) JESUS OFFERS FREEDOM FROM A VICTIM MENTALITY

“BETWEEN STIMULUS AND RESPONSE THERE IS A SPACE. IN THAT SPACE IS OUR POWER TO CHOOSE OUR RESPONSE. IN THAT RESPONSE LIES OUR GROWTH AND FREEDOM”. Viktor Frankl

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. II Corinthians 12:9 (NKJV)
