Prayer That Prevails

Men Ought Always to Pray and Not Give

“Lord, teach us to pray. Jesus spoke in Parables – Simple Truths Luke 18:1-9 NIV

Don’t give in. Don’t give up. Don’t give in to the evil one.

Don’t shrink back in cowardice. Don’t lose heart. Don’t faint.

Don’t get discouraged.

The solitary widow prevails – She wins! She proves superior to the unjust judge and her adversary. She has great influence and power.

“Satan trembles when he sees the weakest saint upon his knees.”

“Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.”

Points of Focus in this Parable:

1. Persistent     2. Perspective     3. Purpose     4. Passion

Persistent in Prayer: Constant. Endures tenaciously. Relentless in spite of strong opposition. Persist and Resist. Submit to God, then Resist the Devil.

Perspective in Prayer: 3 components to effective prayer. God, as Judge. Ourselves/Others.  Adversary. Consider the “Lord’s Prayer.”

Purpose in Prayer: God’s will be done on earth. “Avenge me of my adversary Satan’s kingdom suffers loss. I John 5:18-19

The Kingdom of God advances.

“Dear children, keep yourselves from idols.” I John 5:21

Passionate in Prayer: “Effectual fervent prayer …”

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.” “Be self-controlled and alert.  Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.  Resist him, standing firm in the faith ….” I Peter 5:8-9

“When the Son of Man comes, will He find faith on the earth?” Be one of the “Chosen Few!”
