BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH REPENTANCE

WEEK 2

4-18-15

Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. (Revelation 2:5 NIV)

Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, (Acts 3:19 NKJV)

Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” (Matthew 3:2 NIV)

HOW DO I BUILD BRIDGES WITH REPENTANCE?

1)    I ADMIT ---I WAS WRONG.

If we claim, "We don’t have any sin," we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from everything we’ve done wrong. (1 John 1:8-9 CEB)

2)    I AM AWARE OF THE PAIN I HAVE CAUSED -----I AM SORRY!

For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. (2 Corinthians 7:10 NLT)

3)    I MAKE AMENDS----WHAT CAN I DO TO MAKE IT RIGHT?

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, (Luke 19:8-9b NIV)

I have given her time to repent of her immorality,... (Revelation 2:21a NIV)

And I gave her space to repent…. (Revelation 2:21a KJV)

4)    I ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY-----I WANT TO CHANGE

…My message was that they should change their hearts and lives and turn to God, and that they should demonstrate this change in their behavior. (Acts of the Apostles 26:20b CEB)

Produce fruit that shows you have changed your hearts and lives. (Matthew 3:8 CEB)

The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. Proverbs 24:16a (NLT)

5)    I ASK ----CAN YOU FIND IT IN YOUR HEART TO FORGIVE ME?

So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them. (Luke 17:3 NIV)
