WHAT IS GOD ASKING YOU TO DO?
Week 3
12-20-15

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” II Corinthians 5:7 (NKJV)

PROCESS: A SERIES OF ACTIONS THAT PRODUCES SOMETHING

MARY : YIELDING TO GOD’S PLAN

“When Elizabeth was six months pregnant, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a city in Galilee, to a virgin who was engaged to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David’s house. The virgin’s name was Mary. When the angel came to her, he said, "Rejoice, favored one! The Lord is with you!" She was confused by these words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. The angel said, "Don’t be afraid, Mary. God is honoring you. Look! You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great and he will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of David his father. He will rule over Jacob’s house forever, and there will be no end to his kingdom." Then Mary said to the angel, "How will this happen since I haven’t had sexual relations with a man?" The angel replied, "The Holy Spirit will come over you and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore, the one who is to be born will be holy. He will be called God’s Son. Look, even in her old age, your relative Elizabeth has conceived a son. This woman who was labeled ‘unable to conceive’ is now six months pregnant. Nothing is impossible for God." Then Mary said, "I am the Lord’s servant. Let it be with me just as you have said." Then the angel left her.” Luke 1:26-38 (CEB)

GOD’S PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE WILL THREATEN YOUR PLANS FOR YOUR LIFE

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO YIELD?

YIELD: TO GIVE WAY, TO GIVE UP

“The seed scattered on good soil are those who hear the word and embrace it. They bear fruit, in one case a yield of thirty to one, in another case sixty to one, and in another case one hundred to one.” Mark 4:20 (CEB)

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”    Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV)

HOW CAN I YIELD?

1)    RECEIVE GOD’S VISION FOR YOUR LIFE

“Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” Luke 1:38 (NKJV)

“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches…” Revelation 2:7 a (NKJV)

Be still, and know that I am God; “  Psalms 46:10 (NKJV)

“But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;” Matthew 13:16 (NKJV)

2)    ALLOW GOD’S VISION TO GROW INSIDE OF YOU

“But Mary was very startled by what the angel said and wondered what this greeting might mean.”   Luke 1:29 (NCV)

“…Which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.”  Colossians 1:27b (NKJV)

“Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit. Matthew 12:33 (NKJV)

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things.” Matthew 12:33, 35 NKJV

“But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.”   Psalms 1:2-3 NKJV

“In Your presence is fullness of joy...” Psalms 16:11 (NKJV)

3)    SHARE GOD’S VISION WITH OTHERS

“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”   Luke 2:11 (NKJV)

“Then He said, “To what shall we liken the kingdom of God? Or with what parable shall we picture it? It is like a mustard seed which, when it is sown on the ground, is smaller than all the seeds on earth; but when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all herbs, and shoots out large branches, so that the birds of the air may nest under its shade.” Mark 4:30-32 (NKJV)
