HOW DO WE SERVE GOD?

WHY SHOULD I SERVE TOGETHER?

WE WERE CREATED FOR IT For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

WE ARE GOD’S FAMILY AND IT’S WHO WE ARE We are coworkers belonging to God… 1 Corinthians 3:9a  (NET)

WE ACCOMPLISHMORE Two people are better than one, because they get more done by working together. Ecclesiastes 4:9 (NCV)

WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO SERVE AS A TEAM?

T.     TRUST

HOW CAN I BECOME A TRUSTWORTHY PERSON?

1)    BE CONSISTENT  “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. Luke 16:10 (NIV)

2)    BE CONFIDENTIAL A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret. Proverbs 11:13 (NIV)

...And a whisperer separates the best of friends. Proverbs 16:28b (NKJV)

3)    BE CLOSE A friend loves at all times and a brother is born for adversity. Proverbs 17:17 (NKJV)

E.  EMPATHY Finally, everyone must live in harmony, be sympathetic, love each other, have compassion, and be humble. 1 Peter 3:8 (GW)

SLOW DOWN Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, James 1:19 (NIV)

ASK QUESTIONS  The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out. Proverbs 20:5 (NIV)

CONNECT EMOTIONALLY  Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. Romans 12:15 (NIV)

A.   ACCOMMODATION  If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Romans 12:18 (NKJV)

Make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Philippians 2:2-4 NIV)

…Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?” Romans 15:1b-2 (MSG)

M. MISSION And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV)

“Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.” Matthew 18:19-20 (NKJV)

Each of you has received a gift to use to serve others. Be good servants of God’s various gifts of grace. 1 Peter 4:10 (NCV)
