THE STORY OF MY LIFE

9-21-14

Let the redeemed of the Lord tell their story— ( PS 107:2a NIV)

God wanted to make the glorious riches of this secret plan known among the Gentiles, which is Christ living in you, the hope of glory. (Colossians 1:27 CEB)

Always be ready to answer everyone who asks you to explain about the hope you have, (1 Peter 3:15a NCV)

WE HAVE A MISSION TO TELL OUR STORY

God has done all this. He has restored our relationship with him through Christ, and has given us this ministry of restoring relationships. (2 Corinthians 5:18 GW)

THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT OUR MISSION PEOPLE REALLY WANT TO KNOW GOD

During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them. (Acts 16:9, 10 NIV)

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. (Romans 1:20 NIV)

HOW DO WE TAP INTO PEOPLE'S HUNGER FOR GOD?

                                                         ASK
"IS THERE ANYTHING YOU'D LIKE ME TO PRAY FOR?"

PRAYER OFFERS TWO VERY IMPORTANT THINGS
-I CARE ABOUT YOU AND YOUR PAIN
-I BELIEVE IN A GOOD GOD WHO  OFFERS HOPE

not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? (Romans 2:4aNKJV)

1)  PRAYER  IS THE KEY TO THE SUCCESS OF OUR MISSION
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 NIV)

ONLY GOD CAN CHANGE A HUMAN HEART

From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind; from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth— he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do. (Psalm 33:13-15 NIV)

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 36:26 NIV)

... I will put my teachings in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. (Hebrews 8:10b)

I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. (1 Corinthians 3:6, 7 NIV)

2) YOU WILL FIND THAT WHEN YOU PRAY "COINCIDENCE HAPPENS"
And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. (Colossians 4:2, 3, NIV)

3).  PRAYER  WILL ENLARGE YOUR HEART
Epaphras, who is one of you and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends greetings. He is always wrestling in prayer for you, that you may stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured. (Colossians 4:12 NIV)

4)  PRAY WITH EXPECTATIONS -PRAY FOR SPECIFIC NEEDS
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. (Hebrews 11:6 NIV)

5)  IF YOU ARE ANXIOUS ABOUT PRAYER REMEMBER
Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6, 7 NIV)

6)  PRAY CONTINUALLY
pray without ceasing, (I Thessalonians 5:17 NKJV)
He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. (Luke 10:2 NIV)

7)   PRAYER WILL KEEP THE MISSION IN FRONT OF US

“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Messiah?” They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

"My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.” (John 4:29, 30, 34-38 NIV)
