DAVID

 HISTORY MAKERS ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY

DAVID ASK THE QUESTION
WHOSE GOING TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY ?

Then David spoke to the men who stood by him, saying, “What shall be done for the man who kills this Philistine and takes away the reproach from Israel? (1 Sam 17:26a nkjv)

Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.” (I Samuel 17:28 NKJV)

“What have I done now?” David replied. “I was only asking a question!” (1 Samuel 17:29 NLT)

And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?” (I Samuel 17:29 NKJV)

David said to Saul, “Let no one lose heart on account of this Philistine; your servant will go and fight him.”               (1Sam 17:32 NKJV)

WHAT DOES RESPONSIBILITY MEAN?

RESPONSIBLE

WHEN I AM CALLED UPON
                            I AM BURDENED
                            I AM ABLE TO ANSWER
                            I AM ABLE TO CHOOSE

“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” (Luke 22:42 NIV)

"For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. ”   (John 18:37 NKJV)

WHAT AM I RESPONSIBLE FOR?

1)   I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY RESPONSE

     (E+R=O)
Event+Response =Outcome

Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?” The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.” (John 5:5-7 NKJV)

2)  I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY THINKING

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.                      Proverbs 23:7 NKJV

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:2 NKJV)

3).   I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY EMOTIONS
“Be angry, and do not sin”: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, (Ephesians 4:26 NKJV)

But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. (James 3:14-16 NIV)

4)  I AM RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ACTIONS/CHOICES

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; (Deuteronomy 30:19 NKJV)

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY IS EASIER WHEN YOU LIVE WITH A CAUSE

And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?” (I Samuel 17:29 NKJV)

"For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. ”   (John 18:37 NKJV)
