FREEDOM

MAKING THE MOST OF MY FREEDOM
FREEDOM IS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BE BETTER
FREEDOM COMES WITH RESPONSIBILITY

"Those  who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must under go the fatigue of supporting it". Thomas Paine

"America will never be destroyed from outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms it will be because we destroyed ourselves". Abraham Lincoln

" Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it on to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed to them to do the same".

Christ has set us free for freedom. Therefore, stand firm and don’t submit to the bondage of slavery again. (Galatians 5:1 CEB)

And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32 nkjv)

Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. (John 36 NKJV)

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
2 Corinthians 3:17 NKJV
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, (Luke 4:18 NIV)

JESUS OFFERS US
1)  FREEDOM FROM THE PAIN OF MY PAST
           - GUILT
He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. (Ephesians 1:7 NLT)

          - RESENTMENT
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:31, 32 NIV)

2)  FREEDOM FROM MY FEARS

I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me; he freed me from all my fears.       (Psalm 34:4 GNT)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV)

This is how love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment: In this world we are like Jesus. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because

3)  FREEDOM FROM MY NEGATIVE DESIRES

So, since we’re out from under the old tyranny, does that mean we can live any old way we want? Since we’re free in the freedom of God, can we do anything that comes to mind? Hardly. You know well enough from your own experience that there are some acts of so-called freedom that destroy freedom. Offer yourselves to sin, for instance, and it’s your last free act. But offer yourselves to the ways of God and the freedom never quits. All your lives you’ve let sin tell you what to do. But thank God you’ve started listening to a new master, one whose commands set you free to live openly in his freedom!     (Romans 6:15-18 MSG)

But now that you’ve found you don’t have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way!  (Romans 6:22 MSG)

4)  FREEDOM FROM A VICTUM MENTALITY

" Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In that response lies our growth and freedom".  Viktor Frankl

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. (2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV)

“The eye is the lamp of the body. Therefore, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how terrible that darkness will be!             (Matthew 6:22-23 CEB)

For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. His son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a divine promise.

Therefore, brothers and sisters, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman. (Galatians 4:22-23, 31 NIV)

MY FREEDOMS MUST BE PROTECTED

Christ has set us free for freedom. Therefore, stand firm and don’t submit to the bondage of slavery again. (Galatians 5:1 CEB)
