WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE SICK?

And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. (Matthew 14:14 NKJV)

And on some have compassion, making a distinction; (Jude 1:22 NKJV)

Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” (Mark 1:40, 41)

Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them. Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” (Acts 3:2-6 NIV)

1) PAY ATTENTION : NOTICE PEOPLE
Yet the Lord heard them when they cried out, and he took notice of their distress. (Psalm 106:44 GNT)

I look for someone to come and help me, but no one gives me a passing thought! No one will help me; no one cares a bit what happens to me.

Then I pray to you, O lord. I say, “You are my place of refuge. You are all I really want in life. (Psalms 142:4, 5 NLT)

.... I was sick and you cared for Me; ’ (Matthew 25:36 NLT)

2) PRESENCE: JUST SHOW UP

He comforts us every time we have trouble, so when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us. (2 Corinthians 1:4 NCV)

One day when Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the Law were sitting there who had come from every town in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was present for Jesus to heal the sick. (Luke 5:17 GNT)

3) PROVIDE ACCEPTANCE

When I kept it all inside, my bones turned to powder, my words became daylong groans. (Psalm 32:3 MSG)

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed.  (James 5:16 a NKJV)

4) PROCLAIM HOPE
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones. (Proverbs 17:22 NIV)

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29 NKJV)

A healthy spirit conquers adversity, but what can you do when the spirit is crushed? (Proverbs 18:14 MSG)

Kind words heal and help; cutting words wound and maim. (Proverbs 15:4 MSG)

A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold In settings of silver. (Proverbs 25:11 NKJV)

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life.       (John 6:63 NKJV)

5)PROVIDE THE BEST MEDICAL CARE POSSIBLE

But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, (Luke 10:33-35 NKJV)

6) PREVENTION: TEACH GOOD HEALTH HABITS

My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.                           (Proverbs 4:20-22 NKJV)

7) PRAY
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. James (5:14 NKJV)
