TIS' THE SEASON
A GUIDE TO SURVIVING AND THRIVING THIS CHRISTMAS
                                                        12-6-14 week 1

WHEN STRESS IS AT IT'S PEAK IT'S HARD TO REGROUP IN THE MOMENT

A prudent person sees trouble coming and ducks; a simpleton walks in blindly and is clobbered. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭22‬:‭3‬ MSG)

The Lord and his disciples were traveling along and came to a village. When they got there, a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. She had a sister named Mary, who sat down in front of the Lord and was listening to what he said. Martha was worried about all that had to be done. Finally, she went to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn't it bother you that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her to come and help me!” The Lord answered, “Martha, Martha! You are worried and upset about so many things, but only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen what is best, and it will not be taken away from her.” (‭Luke‬ ‭10‬:‭38-42‬ CEV)

1). SPEND TIME ALONE WITH GOD
Don’t worry and say, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ The people who don’t know God keep trying to get these things, and your Father in heaven knows you need them. Seek first God’s kingdom and what God wants. Then all your other needs will be met as well. (‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭31-33‬ NCV)

The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. (‭Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭2-4‬ NKJV)

2). TAKE HEED TO YOUR SELF
Look after yourselves and everyone the Holy Spirit has placed in your care. (‭Acts‬ ‭20‬:‭28‬a CEV)

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭4‬:‭23‬ NLT)

3). STAY WITHIN A BUDGET
“No one can serve two masters. The person will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches. (‭Matthew 6‬:‭24‬ NCV)

And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.” (‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭15‬ NKJV)

4). JUST SAY NO
Do not give the devil a way to defeat you. (‭Ephesians‬ ‭4‬:‭27‬ NCV)
5). BE REALISTIC
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. (‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭18‬ NIV)

6). REACH OUT, BE GENEROUS
Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” Luke 6‬:‭38 (NIV)‬

7). GIVE THEM THE  "PEACE " OF YOUR MIND
Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good. (‭Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭21‬ MSG)

Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭4-7‬ NKJV)
8). DONT BE ALONE
A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. (‭Proverbs‬ ‭18‬:‭24‬ NKJV)
.... better a neighbor nearby than a relative far away. (‭Proverbs 27‬:‭10‬b NIV)
