WHAT TO DO WHEN LIFE IS FALLING APART
Week 6 11-16-14
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5 NKJV)
WHAT WILL BE THE CENTER OF MY LIFE ?
WHO WILL BE MY COMMUNITY IN LIFE ?
WHAT WILL BE MY CHARACTER IN LIFE. ?
WHAT WILL BE MY CONTRIBUTION IN LIFE ?
WHAT WILL BE MY COMMISSION IN LIFE ?
YOU AND I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT DECISION TO MAKE
WILL WE MAKE HIS MISSION OUR MISSION ?
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20 NKJV)
Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah ... saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city,...” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. He went down to Joppa, and found a ship going to Tarshish; so he paid the fare, and went down into it, to go with them to Tarshish from the presence of the LORD. But the LORD sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up. (Jonah 1:1-4 NKJV)
Then Jonah prayed to the LORD his God from the fish’s belly. And he said: “I cried out to the LORD because of my affliction, And He answered me. “Out of the belly of Sheol I cried, And You heard my voice.
So the LORD spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land. (Jonah 2:1-2, 10 NKJV)
Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you.” (Jonah 3:1-2 NKJV)
One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan. Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” (Luke 17:15-18 NLT)
For “Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!” (Romans 10:13-15 NLT)
HOW DO I CULTIVATE A HEART FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE FAR FROM GOD ?
1) ASK GOD TO OPEN YOUR EYES AND GIVE YOU A HEART OF COMPASSION
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:36-38 NIV)
Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others. (Philippians 2:4 NCV)
2) MAKE YOURSELF AVAILABLE AND ASK GOD FOR OPPORTUNITIES
Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8 NKJV)
Also pray for us that God will give us an opportunity to tell people his message. (Colossians 4:3a NCV)
3) ASK GOD FOR COURAGE
And don’t forget to pray for me. Pray that I’ll know what to say and have the courage to say it at the right time,... (Ephesians 6:19MSG)
His purpose was to equip God’s people for the work of serving and building up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12 CEB)
4) PRAY FOR PEOPLE TO BELIEVE
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, (John 17:20 NIV)
5). PRAY FOR THE RAPID SPREAD OF THE GOOD NEWS
Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we ask you to pray for us. Pray that the Lord’s message will spread rapidly and be honored wherever it goes, just as when it came to you. (2 Thessalonians 3:1 NLT)
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” (Matthew 9:37-38 NIV)
A GREAT COMMITMENT TO THE GREAT COMMANDMENT AND THE GREAT COMMISSION WILL PRODUCE A GREAT LIFE
A LIFE WILL LIVED
Do not be like children in your thinking, my brothers and sisters; be children so far as evil is concerned, but be grown-up in your thinking. (Corinthians 14:20 GNB)
I try to please everyone in every way. I don’t think about what would be good for me but about what would be good for many people so that they might be saved. (1 Corinthians 10:33 GW)
This same Good News that came to you is going out all over the world. It is bearing fruit everywhere by changing lives, just as it changed your lives from the day you first heard and understood the truth about God’s wonderful grace. (Colossians 1:6 NLT)
