WHAT TO DO WHEN LIFE'S FALLING APART

Week3 10-25-14

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5 NKJV)

who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. (Titus 2:14 NKJV)

WHAT WILL BE THE CENTER OF MY LIFE ?
WHO WILL BE MY COMMUNITY IN LIFE ?
WHAT WILL BE MY CHARACTER IN LIFE ?
WHAT WILL BE MY CONTRIBUTION IN LIFE ?
WHAT WILL BE MY COMMISSION IN LIFE ?

WHO WILL BE MY COMMUNITY IN LIFE ?
God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. (Ephesians 1:5 NLT)

A LIFE WITHOUT LOVE IS EMPTY
Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it—because it does. . (1 Corinthians 14:1a MSG )

So, no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do, I’m bankrupt without love. (1 Corinthians 13:3 (MSG)

BEING IN GOD'S FAMILY IS A GAME CHANGER
Pointing to his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.” (Matthew 12:49, 50 NIV)

WE SHOULD BE INTENTIONAL ABOUT DEVELOPING OUR RELATIONSHIPS
The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray. (Proverbs 12:26 NIV)

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV)

Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day. (2 Pe 2:8 NLT)

Two are better than one, Because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, For he has no one to help him up.
Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And a threefold cord is not quickly broken. (Ecc  4:9, 10, 12 NKJV)

GOD WANTS US TO HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH OTHER BELIEVERS
When we have the opportunity to help anyone, we should do it. But we should give special attention to those who are in the family of believers. (Galatians 6:10 NCV)

Respect everyone and show special love for God's people. (1 Peter 2:17a  CEV)

For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (Matthew 18:20 NIV)

WHAT DOES REAL FELLOWSHIP THAT INFLATES US LOOK LIKE?

1) IN REAL FELLOWSHIP WE EXPERIENCE AUTHENTICITY
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. (1 John 1:7, 8 NIV)

Make this your common practice: Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed. (James 5:16a MSG)

2) IN REAL FELLOWSHIP WE EXPERIENCE MUTUALITY
The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together as a church: every part dependent on every other part, (1 Corinthians 12:25aMSG)

When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours. (Romans 1:12 NLT)

3) IN REAL FELLOWSHIP WE EXPERIENCE SYMPATHY
As holy people whom God has chosen and loved, be sympathetic, kind, humble, gentle, and patient. (Colossians 3:12 GW)

that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, (Philippians 10 NKJV)

Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2 NLT)

“They say, ‘A person’s friends should be kind to him when he is in trouble,.. (Job 6:14a NCV)

4) IN REAL FELLOWSHIP WE EXPERIENCE MERCY
But now you should forgive him and comfort him to keep him from having too much sadness and giving up completely. (2 Corinthians 2:7 NCV)

Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (Colossians 3:13 NIV)

Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” (John 13:34b 35 NLT)

Love should be the goal of your life (1 Corinthians 14:1a ERV)

Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37, 39, 40 NKJV)

---LOVE WILL LAST FOREVER
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love. (1 Corinthians 13:13 NLT)
