WHAT TO DO WHEN LIFE'S FALLING APART

Week 2 10/18/14

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5 NKJV)

who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. (Titus 2:14 NKJV)

WHAT WILL BE THE CENTER OF MY LIFE ?

WHO WILL BE MY COMMUNITY IN LIFE ?

WHAT WILL BE MY CHARACTER IN LIFE ?

WHAT WILL BE MY CONTRIBUTION IN LIFE ?

WHAT WILL BE MY COMMISSION IN LIFE ?

WHAT WILL BE THE CENTER OF MY LIFE?

Jesus said to him, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. (Matthew 22:37, 38 NKJV)

WE WERE CREATED FOR WORSHIP

you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased.” (Revelation 4:11b NLT)

For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; (Psalms 149:4a NKJV)

“Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; .” (II Chronicles 20:20b NKJV)

WORSHIP HELPS  US TO GET THROUGH OUR PAIN

Then the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates tore off their clothes and commanded them to be beaten with rods. And when they had laid many stripes on them, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to keep them securely. Having received such a charge, he put them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were loosed. (Acts 16:22-26 NKJ

let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. (Hebrews 13:15b NIV)

Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: (Psalms 103:1, 2 NKJV)

Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger. (Psalms 8:2 NKJV)

Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise ?” (Matthew 21:16b NKJV)

Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” II Corinthians 12:8, 9b NKJV)

"... the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10b NIV)

THE HEART OF WORSHIP IS SURRENDER

Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (Revelation 3:20 NKJV)

“Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you. (Job 22:21 NLT)

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you (Romans  12:1-2 MSG)

3 BARRIERS TO SURRENDER
1). MY FEARS

There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. (I John 4:18 NKJV)

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8 NASB)

2). MY PRIDE

Know that the Lord, He is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; . (Psalm 100:3a NKJV)

We think you ought to know, dear brothers and sisters, about the trouble we went through in the province of Asia. We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it. In fact, we expected to die. But as a result, we stopped relying on ourselves and learned to rely only on God, who raises the dead. And he did rescue us from mortal danger, and he will rescue us again. We have placed our confidence in him, and he will continue to rescue us. (2 Corinthians 1:8-10 NLT)

3) MY CONFUSION
Simon answered, “Teacher, we worked hard all night and caught nothing. But if you say so, I’ll lower the nets.” (Luke 5:5 GW)

You cannot serve both God and money. (Matthew 6:24 NIV)
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be  also. ( Matthew 6:21 NIV )

For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. (Matthew 16:25 NASB)

“Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you. (Job 22:21 NLT)
