PEACE Center April Update

On March 4, 2017, we opened our PEACE Community Resource Center in the building once known as Fusion Coffee House.

"We are so excited about the renovation of Fusion into the new PEACE Center. We have strategically repurposed the entire building to better serve and help our community. We now have space for resource meetings to connect with the families coming in for the food pantry, extra storage and a great classroom space for all of the skill development classes we have to offer our community including our Discipleship Track class."

The PEACE Center is our launching hub for the local PEACE Plan. The PEACE Plan's specific purpose is for normal people empowered by God to make a difference together wherever they go. PEACE is all about addressing the five global giants - spiritual emptiness, self-serving leadership, poverty, disease and illiteracy - through the power of ordinary people in our church!

The PEACE Center is a place where we serve those in need by equipping, assisting, educating and caring for them. Within the last month alone our church family's generosity has made it possible for us to serve families in our community through the PEACE Center and our local PEACE Initiatives. February Purpose Driven Ghana Trip

To help fulfill the Great Commission, we have united with the nation of Ghana along with 20 additional International Partnering Churches who have united with other African countries to help launch and equip nations whose priority is to operate by the five Biblical purposes!

Our commitment started in 2016, shortly after several of our pastors traveled to Rwanda to see the impact Purpose Driven had on that country. Under Pastor Dave, we boldly accepted the role of teaching national church leaders Purpose Driven strategies, and tools to reach communities and Unengaged, Unreached People Groups. Click HERE to read how our journey with Ghana began.

After countless hours of partnering preparation, our team traveled to Ghana to officially begin implementing Purpose Driven strategies. During the first week of February, Pastor Dave and our team taught Purpose Driven Essentials to 137 pastors who committed to becoming Mentoring Churches. A Mentoring Church implements Purpose Driven in their own churches, and in turn mentor other churches in implementing Purpose Driven principles. This created a multiplication model of ministry.

Our mission in Ghana is "A nationwide movement of healthy churches transforming their communities."

We are successfully partnering with four Coaches, including the Director of Ghana Evangelistic Council (GEC), the General Secretary of the Church of Pentecost, and a local bishop who oversees 20 churches.

As Pastor Dani Payment explains: “Once a month, these four Coaches will each train eight of the Mentoring Churches that have committed to implementing Purpose Driven/PEACE Plan.” Pastor Dave will travel to Accra to continue teaching parts 4 and 5 of Purpose Driven Essential Training. “In just over a year, we went from literally zero missions in our church, to now adopting the nation of Ghana,” says Pastor Dani.

Courageous Faith January Update

Courageous Faith January Update

In January we tune in to God and allow Him to shape and direct our focus for the coming year. We open our hearts. This January is an opportunity to share God's love and peace with others, to bring hope to the hopeless, to serve those who are hurting and meet the needs of people. Most important, this is our chance to share the hope of Christ!

Here are a few of the ways our church family has been pursuing just that through Courageous Faith Initiatives:

Peace Center

Recently renovation began in preparation for the opening of PEACE Center. The PEACE Center is a place of compassion where our community's residents can come when they need assistance. While providing for the immediate need, the PEACE Center's goal is to introduce people to Jesus and move everyone forward toward healthy life change.

At Life Skills 101, one of our local PEACE Initiatives offered at the PEACE Center, participants learned and practiced public speaking, how to change a tire and more! Pictured here are Life Skills 101 graduates and teachers.

In addition to being place of resource the PEACE Center will act as a hub for launching members into local and global PEACE. Since we launched Courageous Faith in October 2016, we have expanded PEACE Initiatives such as Fresh Food for Kids, Healing Hands Ministry, Food for Seniors, Hope for the Heart and Life Skills 101. These local PEACE initiatives have dedicated hundreds of hours through the PEACE Plan, and people young and old are receiving the love and hope of Christ.

Church leaders from Ghana are being trained and empowered to engage in a nationwide movement of healthy and growing churches!

We truly believe that healthy churches are growing churches and taking the Good News to Ghana means training hundreds of churches to become healthy in their community! As we meet with local churches in Ghana, it is our goal to train and develop them and their church members and community further in order to effectively grow and share the Good News of Jesus. By partnering together, we are fulfilling the Great Commission and sharing the Good News in the nation of Ghana!

A Letter from Pastor Dave

FOUR BIBLICAL WAYS TO GROW YOUR FAITH

FIRST: Listen to God's Word being taught.

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Romans 10:17

SECOND: Know and believe the promises of God.

We've been given the same promises as those people in the wilderness, but God's promises didn't do them any good because they didn't receive the promises. Hebrews 4:2

GENEROSITY HONORS GOD

GENEROSITY DRAWS ME CLOSER TO GOD

GENEROSITY MAKES ME MORE LIKE JESUS

GENEROSITY IS THE CURE FOR MATERIALISM

GENEROSITY DEMONSTRATES MY FAITH

GENEROSITY REVEALS MY CHARACTER

GENEROSITY BRINGS GOD'S BLESSING

GENEROSITY INCREASES MY HAPPINESS

GENEROSITY EXPANDS MY INFLUENCE

GENEROSITY MULTIPLIES MY MONEY

GENEROSITY BRINGS GOD'S PROTECTION

GENEROSITY WILL BE REWARDED IN HEAVEN

THIRD: Do whatever you've been afraid to do!

I will not be afraid because I trust in God. Psalm 56:11
The the LORD said to Moses (at the Red Sea), "Why are you crying out to me. Tell the people to get moving!" Exodus 14:15
Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them! John 13:17

FOURTH: Read testimonies of others growing in faith.

LASTLY: GET planted in church family.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Courageous Faith?

A: A 36 month giving campaign that will cultivate a heart for God's house while making room in our hearts for new people and preparing our facilities for those God will bring in.

Q: Why are we having the Courageous Faith Campaign?

A: This is an opportunity for us to continue good management of what God has blessed us with. Courageous Faith Honors the house we have dedicated to God and will allow us to build our new worship center.

Q: How will the money we raised be used?

A: The building fund is kept separate from the general ministry funds. All Courageous Faith gifts will be used to pay the expenses of building a new worship center. It is important to remember that our Courageous Faith gifts are to be in addition to our regular giving for the on-going operation of the church. Otherwise our day-to-day ministries would suffer.

Q: Are we paying any fundraising consultant for this campaign?

A: NO! Pastor Dave designed the campaign based on the biblical instructions God gave for raising the money to build the temple in 1 Chronicles 29.

Q: What kind of reactions should we expect from people?

A: We began this campaign knowing there would be three different reactions:

First, there are those who are already committed to giving. They don't need this campaign. They are spiritually mature, they understand all the reasons why we must build, and they give sacrificially whenever they are asked to.

Second, there are those who are not going to give no matter what we do. They will come up with all kinds of objections, excuses, and criticisms about this campaign. The real issue is they simply don't want to give. We're not doing this campaign for this group either and we won't let the objections of a few rob the rest of us of the joy of giving.

Third, there are those who will want to give when they catch the vision of what we're attempting and how giving will help them grow spiritually. These people are the reason for this emphasis.

Q: How do I decide my giving commitment?

A: First, pray and talk with your family to discuss your faith gift. Involving children is a learning experience and teaches them generosity and faith. Talk about ways God has blessed your life. Thankfulness and generosity go together. Ask yourself, "How can I show I am thankful to God?"

Second, expect God to stretch your faith! Giving by reason asks, "What can I afford?" Giving by revelation asks, "Lord, what do you want to give through me? What amount would stretch my faith, force me to trust you, and depend on your promises?" The first amount is just a starting point. Don't decide in a hurry.

Lastly, if you've never tithed, that is a great place to start!

Q: What we will not do in Courageous Faith?

A: We will not pressure anyone to give. "Each one should give what he has decided to give in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under pressure, for God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7

We will not mix giving and personal promotions. "Sell my product in the church and then I will tithe..."

We will not sell junk. David said, "I will not sacrifice an offering that cost me nothing." 1 Corinthians 21:26

Q: What is a tithe?

A: A tithe is the first 10% of what you bring in, given back to God through the local church that you attend.

Q: What is "over and above" giving or an offering?

A: Over and above or offering are phrases we use to explain a gift that is in addition to your regular giving through the tithe.

Q: What happens if I relocate during the campaign?

A: You can continue to honor your "over and above commitment" to Courageous Faith online www.go2ccc.org/giving/ or mail in your commitment. We know that God honors those who honor their commitments and He loves a cheerful giver. If you have set up a recurring gift on your credit card for the campaign, simply call the church finance office and we can update it as you'd like. Kristy Thurman, Financial Pastor at 360-943-4391 x 104.

Q: Can I be updated on the status of my commitment?

A: Every 3 months you will receive an updated giving statement in the mail. Gifts over and above your regular giving or with, that you've designated as Courageous Faith will also be categorized that way on your giving statement.
